As some of you know I have a wonderful workshop, especially built for my creative adventures, but I have to share my shop these days with a new “temporary” guest:
Oh, I know, he looks adorable and he IS adorable. You see those healthy teeth? He loves chewing…First thing I had to haul ALL my unfinished projects out of my shop and store them somewhere else. My paints, waxes, and other stuff are stored high up to the ceiling. Nothing much on the floor, only a dog crate. That being said, painting is not as easy for me as before. I can only paint when my son is at home and takes him out for a long walk around the lake. No longer can I spontaneously start sanding and painting, I have to plan. But you know, when my friend asked me to paint her dresser and side table, I could not say no. No matter how many dog-guests I have in my workshop: I will paint!
My friend is redecorating her guest bedroom and asked me to chalk paint the pieces in ASCP old white. Here is a before picture..sorry..the drawers were already painted:
You can tell that this dresser has great bones and it was truly a dream to paint! To be honest, when in doubt about what color to choose, old white chalk paint is probably your best choice. I have never been disappointed after painting a piece vintage white.
She opted for a very subtle distressing, so I only sanded the outer corners after waxing.
I spray painted the hardware in a metallic black.
Who doesn’t love those curves?
Hope you like the transformation!
Here a picture of the sweet side table that was also painted in ASCP Old White chalk paint:
Instead of buying new furniture I encourage you to take a look at what you already have. You will see how easy it is to transform your “tired-looking” pieces into something new.
Thanks for reading my blog posts, and please leave me a blog comment I always love that!
