Vanity stool in cool mint green

Once and a while I have to go on the look-out for a particular piece of furniture, and vanity chairs or vanity stools are definitely on the “most wanted” list.  Not always you will find both vanity table and chair at a thrift shop of yard sale, so customers ask frequently if I have any in my workshop.  Whenever I see an orphan (vanity) chair, I buy it!  This one I found at our local thrift store for $3!!  Tucked away in a corner of the store.

Do you spot my “goo gone” spray bottle?  Well, this one had a hard-to-take-off yellow sticker.  I guess you know the drill:  sanding and cleaning with a tsp solution.  I decided to make my own chalk paint.  I still had a sample can of Benjamin Moore Cool Mint and on this website here is a great tutorial how to make chalk paint.  So easy, no need to prime, just two or three coats of chalk paint.

Love that cool minty green!

A bit of distressing and a bit of grey give this little chair something extra:

I sealed the chalk paint with a coat of Annie Sloan clear wax.

I hope you like my mint green chair!  I am trying to find a good home for it…

  1. Prachtig stoeltje, ook de grijze pootjes zijn leuk! En wat is het leuk om van zo’n vergeten stoeltje iets moois te maken.

    • Dank je Marion! Kan het niet laten hoor om zo’n stoeltje op te knappen!

  2. That is a sweet little seat and I love the fresh mint green and grey color combination! So glad you liked the homemade chalk paint. I still use it on the majority of my painting projects!

  3. I love this, especially the little gray boots on the chair legs. That’s a great idea! 🙂

  4. So cute! I love the colors.

    • Thanks Megan! My last cool mint project this year before I plunge into fall colors!
