What is the definition of “earth tone”? Well, earth tone colors come from natural things around us: brown soil, green leaf, cloudy sky, as well as the red sun. One of my customers absolutely loves earthy colors. I love the way her character (calm and down to earth) reflects her choices in paint colors: browns, grey, soft greens etc. I try to persuade her sometimes to choose a brighter shade, but she just wants to surround herself in calming earthy tones.
She is decorating her home and after I painted her bedroom dresser and nightstand, she saw an unfinished 4-drawer dresser in my workshop and asked me to paint that for her. yes, in earth tones of course! Here is a before picture with the bottom drawers already primed:
She decided to keep the frame of this dresser dark brown and the drawers in grey. Benjamin Moore has a wonderful shade of brown and it has actually some grey in it. It is called Van Buren Brown, She choose for the drawers Benjamin Moore Baltic Gray, it really compliments the brown perfectly. I used rub n buff silver wax on the wooden knobs (mixed with some brown paint to get a distressed look).
Think of this: paint your pieces in neutral earthy colors and you can add ANY color to it (curtains, accessories etc.)
Yes, she has some curves!
