Turquoise blue distressed side table

Let me take you back in time, about a hundred years back in time.   Virginia 1913:  Just imagine miles of rolling hills and beautiful historic farm houses.   Farm houses with grand entrances, and impressive entrance halls.  Keep your thought…Let me tell you that I have a wonderful small demi-lune entrance hall  table that actually belonged in one of those historic farms!     Here is a before picture:

Isn’t she lovely?  Do you see the details?  I see demi-lune tables once and a while, but to purchase one with so much detail is a treat!   The top was replaced with a new piece of wood, but the bottom part is original.   I already had a customer in mind when I bought this table, and sure enough, when I showed this table she wanted it!  It  had to be painted turquoise..of course!

Well, I cleaned her very well but I did not do much sanding.  You really don’t want to sand the details off.  side table w/turquoise chalk paint

I made my own chalk paint with some left over turquoise flat latex paint.  I distressed her with a sanding sponge. ( for a light  distressed look, use steel wool! )   After about two coats I gave her one coat of clear wax, and one coat of dark wax.

Here is the end result:
