Easy squared baby blanket

Yes, I am all over the place folks!  I am going from sanding, priming and painting to needlework.  I just wish I had four hands… I love ALL handwork.  My darling niece in the Netherlands is expecting her first baby in September.  I do not know if it will be a boy or girl so I choose both blue – melon red and white for this blanket.  I did not have much time, so I choose to crochet.  I crochet faster than knitting.  I used Bernat Softee Baby:

The pattern is NOT my own design – I found the pattern on the kidneybean blog.  This particular blanket is called: “through any window baby blanket”.  Cute name for this design, right?  It looks like a square within a square -does that make sense?  I used a different yarn for this blanket and I actually changed the border a bit to make it my own.

Here are the directions:

140 gr (B)White and (A)Melon Red;  150 gr. (MC)Blue

Size H/8 – 5.00mm hook or size needed to obtain gauge

Blunt end yarn needle

Finished Size:  30″ x 30″ not including border picot

Be careful with the first few rounds, they are the most important!
