When I first started painting, one of my dear friends told me she was looking for a large round table, and she asked me to paint it in a white high-gloss paint. A bit scary because I had never worked with high- gloss paint, but I promised her the table. Well, after some time I found a wonderful heavy oak dining room table on Craigslist. I took it to my workshop and started working on it. After the usual sanding part I only had to fill in a small area with wood filler. For the rest, they table was in great shape. After I primed the table with Zinsser primer I noticed it did not cover well enough so I also used some Kilz spray primer on the top. This really works like a charm!
I chose for the paint Valspar (Lowe’s) Chef’s White. A really nice shade of white and since I used a high gloss paint I did not follow it up with polyurethane or wax. Not necessary, they told me at Lowe’s.
I did give the table about 3 coats. The end result was nice and my friend loves it!
